Delhi Police Reaches AAP MP Swati Maliwal's Residence To Record Statement In 'Assault' Case

Additional CP of Special Cell of Delhi Police and Additional DCP North arrived at the residence of AAP MP Swati Mailwal to record her statement in the assault case.

Amid the ongoing controversy following Aam Aadmi Party leader Swati Maliwal's allegation that a member of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal staff assaulted her, the Delhi Police on Thursday reached her residence in connection with the assault case.

Additional Commissioner of Special Cell of Delhi Police arrived at the residence of AAP MP Swati Mailwal along with a female Additional DCP North, to question her on why she did not file a complaint regarding the case.

The police also wants to know if there is any pressure on her or if she was threatened by anyone to stay silent.

According to sources, it is said that if Swati Maliwal provides any statement before the police today, it will be converted into an FIR.

In view of the incident, Maliwal's ex-husband Naveen Jaihind stated that an FIR should be launched in connection with the same. He also claimed that Swati Maliwal was being silenced and that she should come out.

Jaihind also claimed that AAP MP Sanjay Singh was aware that such an incident would take place and also knew what had happened.

On May 13, Swati Maliwal had made a PCR call at 9:34 AM saying that she was at Delhi CM's residence, where she was beaten up by his PA Bibhav Kumar. The former Delhi Commission for Women chairperson had also gone to Civil Lines police station on Monday to complain about the incident. However, she is yet to lodge an official complaint.

Since the news of the alleged assault broke out, the Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the AAP over it and claimed that Arvind Kejriwal, who is currenly out on an interim bail, was shielding his personal assistant Bhibhav Kumar, who is the accused in the case.

On Wednesday, AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh met party colleague, Swati Maliwal, a day after the party accepted that Delhi CM's personal assistant misbehaved with her.

Singh was accompanied by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) member Vandana Singh during his meeting with Maliwal, which took place at Maliwal's residence, news agency PTI reported.

Sanjay Singh on Tuesday addressed a press conference in which he confirmed that the incident occurred with Maliwal and added that it was a highly condemnable one.
