Parts Of National Capital Waterlogged As Delhi Wakes Up To Heavy Rain: WATCH

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain as well as the speed of the wind will reduce after 9:30 am.

Delhiites on Friday woke up to rain lashing various parts of the national capital region. The sudden rain accompanied by gusty winds brought respite to the people from the scorching heat that had been burning the national capital for the past few days. Delhi was burning yesterday at 37 degrees Celsius, the burst of rain has brought the temperature down to 28 degrees Celsius. Delhi's Sangram Vihar area witnessed waterlogging due to the heavy downpour.

News agency ANI shared visuals from Connaught Place.

IMD in a forecast said that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) will be observed in Northwest NCR, moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) will be observed in Northeast NCR, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) will be observed in Southwest NCR, and moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) will be observed in Southeast NCR.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), IMD stated, "Delhi-NCR most likely to experience gusty wind of speed 50-70 kmph and moderate rain with few occasional intense spell due to approaching clouds from NW Uttar Pradesh till around 09:30 of today thereafter gusty wind and rain spell will decrease gradually. Be updated and stay safe". In a follow-up post, IMD stated, "Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain with heavy intensity rain over few places and gusty winds with speed of 50-70 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR ( Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula."

The sudden rain lashed the national capital along with the NCR region. Parts of South West Delhi, including Vasant Vihar, Munirka, and RK Puram, experienced light rainfall in the early hours today, reported news agency ANI.

Gurugram also witnessed rainfall this morning. ANI shared visuals from the MG road of Gurgaon in which commuters were seen travelling in their vehicles while the downpour continued.

Uttar Pradesh's Noida and Ghaziabad also witnessed heavy downpours on Friday morning.
