Delhi, experienced a welcome respite from stifling heat on Saturday as scattered showers graced certain areas of the city. Residents, who had been enduring scorching temperatures for the past few days, breathed a collective sigh of relief. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the city settled at 26.9 degrees Celsius, a slight departure from the season's average, with a rise of two notches.

Delhi recorded a measured 0.6 mm of precipitation in the last 24 hours leading up to 8.30 am. Simultaneously, the relative humidity stood at 85 per cent during the same period, indicating the moisture-laden atmosphere accompanying the rainfall, news agency PTI reported.
The IMD's forecast for the day entails generally cloudy skies with intermittent light rain, expected to bring down the mercury. The maximum temperature is anticipated to cap at 35 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the much-needed rain, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) reported an encouraging reading around 11 a.m., standing at 84. The AQI categorises air quality on a scale ranging from zero to 500, with values up to 50 denoted as 'good', 51 to 100 as 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 as 'moderate', 201 to 300 as 'poor', 301 to 400 as 'very poor', and 401 to 500 as 'severe'. The current reading of 84 reflects a 'moderate' air quality, offering a sigh of relief for the city's residents, who have been grappling with deteriorating air conditions in recent times.
As Delhi basks in the much-anticipated showers and improved air quality, the city's inhabitants can now look forward to a more comfortable environment and a reprieve from the oppressive heat that has gripped the region.
