Delhi NCR Gets Heavy Rains On Tuesday Evening, 15 Flights Diverted

The Delhi-NCR on Tuesday received a fresh spell of rain amid scotching heat.

Delhi Rain: In a respite from sweltering heat, Delhi-NCR on Tuesday received heavy rainfall along with strong winds despite IMD pedicting clear sky in the national capital. The India Meterological Department (IMD) predicted a clear sky with strong winds during the daytime on Tuesday, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to settle around 38 and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively. It further stated that no heat wave conditions were expected in the national capital for next seven days.

Due to adverse weather conditions in Delhi, 15 flights have been diverted from the national capital, news agency ANI reported, citing an airport source. The source said that nine flights were diverted to Jaipur, two to Amritsar, two to Lucknow, one to Mumbai, and one to Chandigarh.

Heatwave conditions are applied when the maximum temperature is near or above 40 degrees Celsius and the departure is 4.5 degrees Celsius or more from normal.

Meanwhile on Monday, Regional Met Centre, New Delhi said light to moderate intensity rain would likely occur in Delhi-NCR. "Light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili), NCR ( Loni Dehat) Kharkhoda (Haryana) Chandpur, Khekra, Modinagar, Kithor, Amroha," Regional Met Centre New Delhi said in a post on X.
