Caught On Camera: AAP MLA Gulab Singh Yadav Thrashed By Party Workers. BJP Takes Jibe

The Delhi BJP alleged that the AAP MLA was beaten by party members for providing tickets for the MCD elections in exchange for money while releasing the footage on its official Twitter account.

In advance of the crucial MCD polls in the national capital, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit in Delhi shared a video on Monday that appeared to show Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gulab Singh Yadav being pursued and attacked by his own party members.

The Delhi BJP alleged that the AAP MLA was beaten by party members for providing tickets for the MCD elections in exchange for money while releasing the footage on its official Twitter account.

Taking to Twitter, Delhi BJP stated: "AAP MLA was beaten up! Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gulab Singh Yadav was thrashed by AAP workers on the charge of selling tickets. Kejriwal ji, this is how the number of all the corrupt MLAs of AAP will come."

Several BJP leaders, including national spokesperson Sambit Patra, Tajinder Singh Bagga, and others, uploaded video of the incident.

"Watch this video of AAP MLA from Matiala Gulab Singh Yadav being thrashed by angry AAP workers for selling tickets... May the memory of Arvind Kejriwal ji also not be lost, because Arvind Kejriwal is the KINGPIN of all these corrupt people," Sambit Patra tweeted in hindi.

MCD Polls 2022

According to the polling schedule released by the state electoral board last week, elections for the MCD will be place on December 4 and the results will be tallied on December 7.

MCD is an essential part of municipal administration and affects people on a daily basis, hence the contest involves high stakes for both the AAP and the BJP. Nearly 80% of Delhi is administered by the municipal authority, which offers almost as many services as the city government.

It will be the AAP's second attempt at a civic election. The AAP was unable to defeat the BJP at MCD despite sweeping to historic victory in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.

The elections will be crucial for the BJP, which has controlled the MCD for three straight terms, to keep control of the local political scene after suffering two consecutive losses at the assembly elections.
