8 Injured In Stampede Caused By Fire In Delhi's Slum Area, 200 Shanties Gutted
Eight people sustained injuries in a stampede triggered by a fire at a slum cluster in Delhi's Sultanpuri area on Friday, Delhi Fire Services officials said.
“The situation is under control and no casualties have been reported so far,” fire officials said.
According to the fire department, 200 shanties were completely burned in the incident however, the reason for this fire is still not known.
Director of Delhi Fire Service (DFS) Atul Garg while talking to news agency IANS said that a call regarding a massive fire in the Pooth Kalan area was received at around 12:13 am. Immediately after the call 21 firefighters were rushed to the scene to douse the fire.

DFS Chief said, "A total of 21 fire tenders were rushed to the site and the fire was under control by 4:19 a.m. Due to stampede during the fire, a total of eight persons sustained minor injuries and they were given first aid on the spot." No casualties in the matter have been reported.

Those injured were identified has Surajmal (72), Kapoor (50), Sagar (25), Pappu (55), Babloo (65), Kawar Singh (52), Raj Singh (72) and Chand (55), he added.
Earlier, in another incident, a fire broke out in a footwear factory in Narela in November last year.

"We received information about a fire Incident at plastic slippers and shoes manufacturing factory in Narela. Several firemen and 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. No casualties were reported in the incident," a senior official at the Delhi Fire Service stated.
The shoemaking factory was located in the H block of the Narela Industrial Area of New Delhi, as informed by the DFS officers.
