Minor Girl 'Raped' By Sub-Inspector In Rajasthan's Dausa, Case Sparks Massive Protest Outside Police Station
A minor girl was allegedly raped by a police sub-inspector in Rajasthan's Dausa district, the case led to local residents gathering in large numbers at the Rahuwas police station to shout slogans against the cops.
A minor girl was allegedly raped by a police sub-inspector in Rajasthan's Dausa district in the Lalsot area on Friday afternoon when the accused sub-inspector, identified as Bhupendra Singh, reportedly lured the young girl—estimated to be around four to five years old—into his room and committed the heinous act. The accused is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation, Assistant Superintendent Of Police (ASP) Ramchandra Singh Nehra said, as per news agency PTI.
"The exact age of the victim girl will be determined after a medical examination and based on the report of the victim’s family members," stated Dausa Superintendent Of Police (ASP) Vandita Rana, acknowledging the severity of the crime, as quoted by PTI.
The incident has sparked public outrage, leading to local residents gathering in large numbers at the Rahuwas police station. The community expressed their anger, shouting slogans against the police, PTI reported. BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena also visited the site, condemning the incident and demanding justice for the young victim.
“There is a huge anger among the people over the incident of rape of a seven-year-old Dalit girl by a policeman in Lalsot. I have reached the spot to get justice for the innocent child. The police, which has become autocratic due to the incompetence of the Ashok Gehlot government, is not desisting from committing atrocities even on a sensitive occasion like elections,” he posted on X.
Rajasthan BJP Chief C. P. Joshi strongly condemned the incident, calling for stringent punishment for the culprits, "We condemn this incident and demand that all the culprits should get stringent punishment. Only an animal can do this to an innocent 4-year-old girl."
Asked about 'inaction' in the case, he added, "Such incidents have risen in the last five years due to negligence of the state government. They ignore these incidents saying that this state has a lot of men and 36% of cases are fake. Hence, criminals are able to execute such crimes."
The matter comes to light as the opposition BJP has been targeting the Congress-led government in Rajasthan over crimes against women.
Priyanka Doesn't Question Rajasthan CM On Atrocities Against Women: Nirmala Sitharaman
Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier in the day criticised Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi for her alleged selective focus on crimes against women. Sitharaman remarked that Gandhi tends to speak out about crimes in states not governed by her party but remains conspicuously silent on the atrocities faced by Dalit women in Rajasthan, PTI reported.
"In Rajasthan, especially among Dalit women, such terrible atrocities are being committed that one gets scared after watching the news on television and reading newspapers. The Rajasthan government is not taking any action. But Priyanka does not say anything on this subject. She does not go to Rajasthan and question the Chief Minister. She goes to other states and gives lectures," the Union minister told reporters, as quoted by PTI.
