Police said they suspected that the accused burned the body to conceal the identity of the woman. A murder case has been lodged in the matter, and efforts are underway to identify the woman and nab the accused, the ACP said, as reported by PTI.
In another incident, a 12-year-old girl was found bleeding on a street in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. After a medical examination, it was confirmed that the girl had been raped, police said on Wednesday. MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter and a suspect has been detained. According to the police, the girl, who probably hails from Uttar Pradesh, was found on September 25, reported PTI.
Reacting to the incident, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala said, "What happened in Ujjain has put the entire country to shame. When Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP leaders get time from celebrating only then they can hear the cries of the daughters of the MP." The incident, he said, has brought shame to the state and the BJP government has made it the most unsafe state in the country.
