5-Year-Old Girl Raped, Murdered In Delhi's Bawana On Holi Eve, Accused Hid Body In Factory

The accused hid the body of the girl in a factory after raping and murdering her in Delhi's Bawana area.

Delhi News: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a man on Sunday in Delhi's Bawana area on the eve of Holi, as reported by NDTV. Following the murder, the man hid her body in a factory before running away out of town, police said. On March 24, Bawana police station in the national capital received a call at around 10:27 PM about a suspected kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl from sector 1, Bawana.

The girl's parents, who run a tea shop, told the police that they last saw her at around 5 p.m. and tried looking for her but couldn't find her, according to the NDTV report. A case was registered, and the police began a manual search along with the parents.

As per the report, the search went on the entire night in the areas where the girl was last seen, but the police failed to find her. The factories in the area were closed on the eve of Holi.

On the morning of March 25, the police scanned the CCTV footage of the area and found the girl walking alongside a man in one of them, as per the NDTV report. The parents of the deceased girl recognised the man and identified him as Totan.

In a bid to arrest Totan, the police went to his workplace, where he also lived. However, he had escaped by then. Following the interrogation of some labourers who knew him, the police found out that Totan was going to board the Poorva Express from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) to Howrah, according to the NDTV report.

The police immediately formed a team to reach NDLS, but the train had already left by the time they reached there. On March 26, a police team left for Kolkata Airport. Upon reaching there, they boarded a train for Asansol railway station and waited for the Poorva Express, as per the report.

After the train arrived, the police boarded it and began searching for the accused, finding him within a few minutes. After being caught, Totan was brought back to Delhi on March 27. According to the NDTV report, the accused confessed to raping and killing the girl and dumping her body in a factory in Bawana at around 7:30 p.m. on March 24.
