Special Guests In J&K Assembly: Omar Abdullah's Sons Attend Session For 1st Time — Watch

The fourth-generation Abdullahs arrived at the legislative assembly complex and watched the proceedings during obituary references.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly saw the presence of two special guests — CM Omar Abdullah's sons Zahir and Zamir — on Tuesday. Zahir and Zamir Abdillah, in their 20s, are Omar Abdullah's sons with his estranged wife Payal Nath and are lawyers by profession.

The fourth-generation Abdullahs arrived at the legislative assembly complex and watched the proceedings during obituary references. They sat beside Nasir Aslam Wani, the advisor to the chief minister. Both of them took an active part in the campaign for the assembly elections in the family's bastion Ganderbal, where they met and interacted with party workers.

Both of them have said they have no plans of joining politics as they are too young and want to learn first. They also addressed party workers in the central Kashmir district. They recently also attended the party's youth meeting at the NC headquarters in Jammu. They visited the party's students' union office and interacted with youth activists.

The first day of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly started on a stormy note as political parties clashed over a resolution that was moved to seek revocation of Article 370 and restoration of special status to the erstwhile state.

Omar Won Both Budgam, Ganderabal Seats

In Budgam, Omar secured 36,010 votes defeating PDP's Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi with a margin of 18,485 votes. In Ganderbal, the former CM won 32,727 votes defeating Bashir Ahmed Mir from the People's Democratic Party with a vote margin of 10,574. In the 2014 polls, the Ganderbal seat was won by JKNC's Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh who defeated PDP's Qazi Mohammad Afzal by a slim margin of 597 votes.

In Ganderbal, NC's Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi bagged the seat garnering 30090 votes. Mehdi defeated Gh Mohi-ud-din Bhat (Muntazir) with a vote margin of 2,787 votes.
