Four Tourists Killed As Chopper Crashes In Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi Chopper Crash: Police, army forces and disaster management teams have been dispatched to the location.

Four tourists were killed and two were injured after a chopper crashed in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi on Thursday. There were five to six passengers on board the helicopter.

It is being reported that the helicopter crashed near the Bhagirathi River, below the Nag Temple, ahead of Gangani. The District Magistrate of Uttarkashi has left for the site. The helicopter, filled with passengers, had departed from Dehradun for the Harsil helipad.

Police, army forces and disaster management teams have been dispatched to the location.

The incident reportedly occurred around 9 a.m. The chopper is said to belong to a private company.

CM Dhami Orders Probe

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami mourned the loss of lives and instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured. 

In a post on X, he said, "Very sad news has been received about some casualties in a helicopter crash near Gangani in Uttarkashi. SDRF and district administration teams have immediately reached the spot for relief and rescue work. May God grant peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense sorrow."

CM Dhami has instructed the administration to investigate the accident. "I am constantly in touch with the officials in this regard, and every situation is being monitored," he added.
