WATCH: Ceiling Plaster Falls At Govt School In UP's Hapur, 4 Students Injured

Four students were injured when a classroom ceiling plaster collapsed in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Locals have claimed their complaints about the school's poor condition were ignored and have now demanded urgent inspection.

At least four students were injured after the plaster from the ceiling of a classroom at a government primary school collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district.

The incident took place on Friday when children were attending classes inside the building. The sudden peeling of plaster sparked panic among both students and staff. Police and local administrative officials arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident. Locals also rushed to the school to assist in rescue efforts, India Today reported.

"There was a loud noise, and suddenly debris started falling. The children screamed and tried to run," eyewitnesses recalled.

Police personnel removed the debris from the spot and rushed the injured children to a nearby hospital. All four injured students are said to be out of danger, but have been kept under observation, the report said.

District officials, including public works and education officers, visited the school to assess the damage. They also sealed off the area around the affected classroom to prevent further risk.

Following the incident, residents of Bhameda alleged that they had complained several times about the school building's poor condition, but no action was taken.

Acknowledging the negligence, a district official said during the site inspection: "A team has been formed to investigate the incident and fix accountability. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible."

Parents have demanded urgent inspections and repairs across all schools in the region in order to avoid similar incidents from happening again.

7 Students Dead In Rajasthan Roof Collapse

The incident in UP came just a day after seven students died and over 15 were injured in a roof collapse at a primary school building in Rajasthan's Jhalawar. The incident took place just ahead of the morning assembly.

The school building, which was two decades old, had a roof made of stone slabs. Emergency rescue teams were promptly deployed, and efforts were made to pull out the trapped students from the rubble.
