UPSC Coaching Teacher Avadh Ojha Likely To Join AAP, May Contest Delhi Elections

Kejriwal on Sunday announced his party will contest the upcoming Delhi elections independently without any alliance partner of the INDIA bloc.

Delhi Elections: UPSC coaching teacher and motivational speaker Avadh Ojha may join the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday. He is likely to join the party in the presence of AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal and may contest Delhi elections scheduled in February.

Kejriwal on Sunday announced his party will contest the upcoming Delhi elections independently without any alliance partner of the INDIA bloc. The party had earlier contested polls solo in Haryana after it failed to reach a consensus on a seat-sharing arrangement with Congress.

"There will be no alliance in Delhi (for assembly elections)," Kejriwal said addressing a press conference on Sunday.

The elections to the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly are scheduled to take place in February next year with the Election Commission of India yet to announce the dates.

The Aam Aadmi Party has already begun preparing for the elections with the announcement of the first list of candidates last month.

AAP has named a total of 11 candidates in the first list. Brahm Singh Tanwar (Chhatarpur), Anil Jha (Kirari), and BB Tyagi (Laxmi Nagar) had recently quit the BJP to join the AAP. Zubair Chaudhary (Seelampur), Veer Singh Dhingan (Seemapuri), and Somesh Shokeen (Matiala) left the Congress and joined AAP.
