Monsoon Returns In UP With Red Alert In These 30 Districts, Check Forecast

The IMD forecasts intense showers in 30 districts, issuing red alerts for very heavy rain and thunderstorms in several areas, particularly in eastern UP.

The monsoon is set to make a strong return in Uttar Pradesh, with a fresh spell of heavy rain forecast across the state. On Thursday (25 July), 30 districts are expected to witness intense rainfall, and residents are advised to exercise caution. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rain in several areas over the next five days.

According to the IMD, both eastern and western parts of the state are likely to receive showers on Friday. In western UP, some areas may see rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Isolated heavy downpours are also expected in the region.

The monsoon is fully active in eastern UP, where widespread showers with thunder and lightning are likely. The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rain in some pockets, which could lead to waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The intensity of rainfall is expected to increase in the coming days.

Red Alert for Very Heavy Rainfall in These Districts

A warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Lalitpur, Jhansi, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Varanasi, and Ghazipur. Lightning strikes are also likely in these areas.

Rain is expected at several locations in Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Chandauli, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ballia and nearby regions, with the possibility of heavy showers in some places. Alerts for rain and thunderstorms have also been issued in Jalaun, Kanpur, Unnao, Fatehpur, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Pratapgarh, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.

Scattered Showers Likely in These Districts

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Sitapur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gonda, Balrampur, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, and Sant Kabir Nagar. No warnings have been issued for these areas.

One or two locations in Saharanpur, Shamli, Bijnor, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Noida, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Etah, Kasganj, Budaun, Sambhal, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, and Lakhimpur Kheri may see isolated showers. No alerts have been issued in these districts either.
