UP BJP Unit Sends Six Names To Party High Command For New State Chief Post — Check Details
The UP BJP has proposed six candidates for state president to the high command, balancing caste representation with two each from Brahmin, OBC, and Dalit communities.

The Uttar Pradesh BJP has sent a list of potential candidates to the party high command for the new party president in the state, with careful attention paid to caste equations. The list includes two names each from the Brahmin, OBC (Other Backward Classes), and Dalit communities. A senior party leader has stated that the high command is now ready to make a decision and select the next state president from among these names.
Currently, the position is held by Bhupendra Chaudhary, known as a Jat leader from Western UP. It will soon become clear who will succeed him.
With the 2027 Assembly elections approaching in Uttar Pradesh, the selection of the new state president is seen as one of the BJP’s most crucial decisions. After setbacks in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the party is strategizing to return to power in the state for a third consecutive term.
Battle for State President Heats Up
The BJP has already appointed over 25 out of its 35 state presidents, and discussions are also underway regarding the party’s next national president. Meetings are being held regularly within the party to finalize these decisions. With elections drawing closer, the competition for the UP state president’s post has intensified.
There has been widespread speculation for quite some time, and the matter has become a hot topic in political circles. Among the six prominent names sent by the UP BJP, several high-profile figures are included.
Who’s on the List?
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the names proposed for state president include two Brahmin leaders: former Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and Basti MP Harish Dwivedi.
From the OBC category, the list features Dharmpal Singh, a minister in the Yogi government, and current Union Minister B.L. Verma. The Dalit category includes former Union Minister Ram Shankar Katheria and current MLC Vidya Sagar Sonkar.
The BJP is now set to choose the next UP state president from among these names.
