'Dawood Ibrahim Was His Sponsor': Trinamool Slams Mithun Chakraborty For Hindu Remark

BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty faces criticism from the TMC for his comments on Hindu survival in Bengal. The TMC accuses Chakraborty of ties to Dawood Ibrahim.

Mithun Chakraborty, a BJP leader and seasoned actor, has come under fire from the Trinamool Congress for his comments that if the BJP loses the West Bengal Assembly election next year, Hindus in Bengal will not survive.

Chakraborty was accused by the ruling party in West Bengal of having ties to criminal Dawood Ibrahim, who the TMC claimed had funded his films.

Trinamool General Secretary Jay Prakash Majumdar questioned Chakraborty, "He speaks about Hindus? Has he forgotten that Dawood Ibrahim was his sponsor? Everyone knows that several of his films were funded by Dawood. And now, he comes to Bengal and talks about saving Hindus."

Majumdar added, "Dawood Ibrahim has links with Mithun Chakraborty. He financed his films and shows."

Majumdar also accused the BJP leader of making "hate speeches" for political gain, as reported by India Today.

The TMC leader said, "Mithun is making highly communal remarks for political gains. Bengali Hindus have lived peacefully since independence, but his recent speeches are deeply shameful. His words are filled with hate, and he seems intent on creating division amongst people."

Further, Majumdar questioned if Chakraborty would have the audacity to say the same thing in Mumbai. "Can he go to Bombay and say this? In the film industry? Can he say to kick Muslims out of the Bombay film industry?

FIRs Against Chakraborty

Last year, two FIRs were lodged against Chakraborty for allegedly making provocative statements during a BJP event in Salt Lake area near Kolkata.

The accusations are related to Chakraborty's speech at a BJP event held at Salt Lake's Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) on October 27. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Kolkata to kick off the party's West Bengal membership drive.

Based on a complaint from an individual, the first FIR was filed in Bidhannagar South police station, while the second was filed in Bowbazar police station.
