An 18-year-old boy posed as an IPS officer after getting the police uniform and a pistol for ₹2 lakh in Bihar's Jamui district. The boy was showing off his "new rank" in his village when locals informed police and he was caught.
When police arrested him, the flamboyant fake officer, identified as Mithlesh Manjhi, said, "I am an IPS officer". The accused also indulged in samosas and fritters while telling people that he had become an "IPS officer".

"A young man who was roaming around pretending to be a fake IPS officer has been arrested by the Sikandra police. He is being questioned after being brought to the police station. All the gang members involved in this will be arrested," a senior police officer said.
The police uniform and the pistol have been recovered from the boy. Manjhi said he was promised a police job in exchange for the money by a man, Manoj Singh. "Manoj Singh had said if I give him ₹2 lakh, he will get me a job in the police. I had given him most of the amount a month ago. He gave me the uniform and pistol near Khaira school. I came to the village to inform my mother. After this, I went to Khaira to give the remaining ₹30,000. During this, the police caught me at Sikandra Chowk," Manjhi said.

A video that has now gone viral on social media, the police is seen "welcoming" the fake officer in the police station. A policeman jokingly said, "Come sir, IPS...to Sikandara Police Station."
