After a truck dragged a car for about 200 metres on the Firozabad-Agra highway, a Firozabad-based family escaped unhurt.
A family escaped after a trailer dragged their car for about 200 metres on the Firozabad-Agra highway Thursday evening at the Barhan intersection. After the car collided with the trailer near the Trimurti Bahubali Jain Temple in Firozabad, it continued to drag the vehicle despite the screams of the occupants and onlookers’ alarms.
According to The Times Of India (TOI), passersby chased the trailer and managed to stop it near the block office, at which point the driver fled the scene.
The occupants of the car, a Firozabad-based family who operate a hotel, were unharmed but they missed their train to Agra Cantt station. The family had planned a visit to the Jain pilgrimage site Kundalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The group included Rajat Jain, his wife Priyanka, their son Parv, Rajat's brother-in-law Sonu Jain, Sonu's wife Deepika, and their son Chunnu.
The incident led to a 30-minute traffic jam. Police promptly cleared the vehicles, seized the trailer, and registered an FIR against the driver.
According to TOI, Inspector Vijay Vikram Singh confirmed that the family was unharmed but decided to cancel their journey.
The trailer owner has been summoned, and an investigation into the case is underway.
In a separate, two, including an 8-year-old girl, were killed and six other schoolchildren were injured when a mini-trailer collided with an e-rickshaw in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Sunil Kumar, 38, and Srishti.

Six other schoolchildren were injured in the accident and two of them were referred to Kanpur for further treatment, Mishra said.
The ASP said that the mini-trailer driver managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle.
"The vehicle has been seized, and efforts are underway to locate the driver," he said.
