Tamil Nadu: 6 TVK Members Killed En Route To Conference In Separate Road Accidents; Vijay Offers Condolences

Actor-turned-politician Vijay described the incident as an "irreparable and unbearable loss" and acknowledged the contributions of the deceased members to the party.

Around six members of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) lost their lives in separate road accidents while traveling to Vikravandi for the party's inaugural state conference on Sunday. The supporters, who were making their way to the historic event, met with accidents en route to the venue, leading to an outpouring of grief within the party and its followers.

TVK leader Vijay expressed his deep condolences in a tweet, naming the deceased party members: Advocate Gilli VL Srinivasan, Trichy South District Youth Wing Leader, JK Vijaykalai, Trichy South District Vice President Vasanthakumar, and TVK members from Parrys Riyaz and Udayakumar and Charles from Villivakkam. Vijay described the incident as an "irreparable and unbearable loss," acknowledging the contributions of the deceased members to the party. He extended his condolences to the families and prayed for the recovery of those injured.

"It is shocking and painful that they are not with us today. The work they have done for the TVK will forever remain as part of the party's history. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray to God that their souls rest in peace. Also, I pray to the almighty God that the members of the club who were injured in the road accident and are being treated at the hospital will get well soon and return home," the tweet said.

The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’s first state conference was a significant event attracting a large gathering in Vikravandi. Vijay, the actor-turned-politician, used the platform to address key political issues, taking a veiled swipe at the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Referring to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s frequent description of his administration as a "Dravida model government," Vijay criticized it as an "anti-people" regime, implying a disconnect between its inclusive claims and reality.

Vijay emphasised TVK’s core belief that everyone is equal by birth, hinting at systemic inequalities and suggesting that those opposing such values are self-evident. He also warned against "corrupt entities," likening them to an elusive virus that spreads undetected, a subtle yet pointed criticism directed at the current political establishment.
