Bihar: The Jaynagar-New Delhi Swatantrata Senani Express was again attacked in Bihar's Samastipur on Thursday night. The incident occurred at the outer signal of the Samastipur station. Miscreants hurled stones at an AC coach of the train, due to which the window panes of the coaches were smashed.

Thursday's stone-pelting incident was not the first time the Swatantrata Senani Express came under attack. About 10 days ago, the was an attempt to derail the train. The engine of the train suffered damages after hitting a wooden block deliberately placed on the tracks between Ghazipur City Station and Ghat Station. The incident occurred on September 16.

In June this year, two persons were arrested for allegedly pelting the Swatantrata Senani Express with stones. The incident took place between Sakri Kakarghatti station under the Samastipur Railway Division. The window panes of the train's AC coaches M1, B3 and B6 were damaged in the attack.

After Thursday's stone-pelting incident, passengers were seen taping bedsheets to the frames to cover the broken windows. The train was delayed by 45 minutes due to the incident.

The police have begun an investigation to identify the culprits.
