SP Slams BJP 'Corruption' After UP Man Drowns In Gurugram Sewer, Demands ₹1 Crore Aid For Family

SP blames BJP-led Haryana govt for Kannauj man’s death in Gurugram sewer, demands ₹1 crore compensation and strict accountability.

Lucknow, Jul 14 (PTI) The Samajwadi Party on Monday held the BJP-led government in Haryana guilty for the death of an Uttar Pradesh native in Gurugram rains, accusing it of corruption and urging a Rs 1 crore compensation for the kin of the deceased.

Shailendra, 27, fell into an open sewer in Gurugram on Wednesday night amid rains. He hailed from Kannauj.

The opposition party's media cell shared on X news clips about the incident.

"A tragic incident of Shailendra, a resident of Kannauj, UP, died in Gurugram, Haryana due to drowning in a sewer manhole because of the absence of a cover. The situation is more or less the same in all the BJP ruled states and deaths are continuously occurring as a result of government neglect, negligence and corruption," the SP Media Cell posted in Hindi on X.

"The BJP government, which is responsible for this tragic incident, should immediately give a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased and take responsibility for the maintenance of the family," it added.

"BJP officials should stop corruption," it stated.

Shailendra was out on work when he drowned in the open sewer that was submerged due to waterlogging.

His wife made several phone calls to him but when there was no response, the family approached the police and the body was fished out the next day.
