Society Gates Collapse, Boardings Fall As Dust Storm, Rain & Hail Lash Noida: Watch

A sudden dust storm, heavy rain, and hailstorm hit Noida, causing widespread damage, power outages, metro suspension, and property destruction across multiple residential areas.

A sudden and intense weather event swept across Delhi-NCR, including Noida and its neighbouring cities, on Wednesday evening. Residents first experienced a violent dust storm, which was immediately followed by a thunderstorm, heavy rain, and hailstorm.

Officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated, "Dust storm with windspeed upto 80kmph recorded over Delhi. Moderate to light rainfall is expected for the next hour. Hail is being reported in multiple areas."

The extreme weather disrupted daily life and uprooted trees in several areas. High-speed winds led to power outages in multiple residential societies around Noida. Visuals circulated on social media showed a signage near Greater Noida West's Gaur Chowk that fell due to the strong windstorm.

On the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, a strong gust near Sector-145 caused an authority signboard to collapse onto the road.

In Greater Noida West, the main gate of the Apex Golf Avenue society collapsed amid the storm and rain. Metro services in the region were also suspended as strong winds and dust clouds swept across the area.

Multiple Parked Vehicle Damaged

Near Galaxy Vega in Greater Noida West, a shuttering structure from the under-construction CRC project fell due to the storm, damaging several cars parked in the open parking area of the society.

At the Supertech EcoVillage 2 society in Greater Noida West, strong winds and rain caused the balcony gate and window of a flat to break and fall, though fortunately the residents escaped unharmed.

According to the IMD, winds gusting between 60 and 70 kmph were recorded across Delhi and surrounding regions. Palam reported wind speeds of 20 knots (around 35 kmph), with peak winds reaching up to 40 knots (72 kmph). The IMD has forecast continued rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds for the region in the coming days.
