Seven Devotees Feared Dead As Boat Capsizes In MP's Shivpuri, CM Mohan Yadav Announces Compensation

Madhya Pradesh Boat Capsize: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia spoke to Shivpuri's collector and SP regarding the boat accident, directing them to expedite relief efforts.

A boat carrying devotees to a religious site capsized in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday evening. Seven people are feared dead in the accident. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has announced financial assistance of ₹2,00,000 to the families of the deceased.

SDOP of Pichhore, Prashant Sharma, said that 15 devotees were going to the Siddha Baba temple located on an island in the middle of the Matatila Dam for Phagu Holi in a boat. The dam comes under the Lalitpur district. During the trip, water entered the boat and it capsized.

Eight devotees could be rescued with the help of locals, while seven remain missing. These include four children and three women. The NDRF team and local people are searching for the missing. However, with each passing moment, the chances of finding the missing people alive are getting slimmer.

Jyotiraditya Scindia Speaks To Shivpuri Collector On Relief Efforts

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident. He has issued instructions to release financial assistance of ₹2,00,000 from the Chief Minister's voluntary grant to the next of kin of the deceased.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia spoke to the Shivpuri Collector and SP regarding the incident and directed them to expedite relief work.

8 People Rescued

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav expressed satisfaction at the rescue of eight people with the help of the district administration, local citizens and NDRF personnel. He also said that instructions have been issued to the district administration to prevent such incidents in the future.

Search Operation Underway

Shivpuri SP Aman Singh Rathore said that a search operation is underway with the presence of the district administration and police. Divers are continuously searching for the missing people in the water. Among the missing are four children: Shiv, Kanha, Chhaya, and Kumkum; and three women: Sharadbai, Lilabai, and Ramdevi.
