RG Kar Case: Double-Trouble For Sandip Ghosh As ED Launches Raid At His Kolkata Home

RG Kar Case Updates: The Enforcement Directorate is conducting raids at the homes of Sandip Ghosh and Biplab Singha. Both are in CBI custody at present.

RG Kar News: In what could spell fresh trouble for Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Car Medical College, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is now mounting the heat on him. Following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the RG Kar corruption case, the ED sent a team to conduct a raid at his home in Kolkata.

The ED is prepared for the raid at the Beleghata residence of Sandip Ghosh early on Friday. The ED officials are accompanied by Central forces. The security personnel have surrounded the house, and ED officials have been stationed outside the house since 6:25 AM. However, no one has opened the door yet to allow them in.

Sandip Ghosh is currently in the custody of the CBI. Efforts to contact the family members inside the house have so far been unsuccessful. Sandip Ghosh's house is among six locations where the ED is conducting raids.

Simultaneously, ED officials are also conducting a search operation at the residence of medical supplies vendor Biplab Singha in Sankrail, Howrah. Both Sandeep Ghosh and Biplab Singh had previously been arrested by the CBI in connection with the alleged corruption at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Moreover, another raid is being conducted at the home of Kaushik Koley, a close associate of Biplab Singha, who lives just a short distance away from Singh. Allegations against Biplab Singh include irregularities in the hospital's tender process in lieu of bribes. According to the CBI, vendors Biplab Singh and Suman Hajra, along with Sandip Ghosh, were key players in the corruption scandal surrounding RG Kar Hospital.

Sources said the home of Prasoon Chatterjee, a data entry operator at RG Kar MCH, is also being searched.

The investigation continues to widen as the ED now joins the CBI in probing the alleged corruption.

The CBI took over the investigation after the Calcutta High Court ordered the central agency to probe the allegations following a plea by Akhtar Ali, a former deputy superintendent at RG Kar Medical College. Akhtar Ali had sought an ED investigation. However, the court felt that the CBI should take over the case as it was already looking into the RG Kar doctor's rape and murder.
