Tragic School Collapse In Rajasthan: 7 Children Dead, 29 Hurt During Morning Prayer Assembly

Seven students died and 29 were injured after a school building collapsed during morning assembly in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district. A high-level probe has been ordered.

A tragic incident unfolded on Friday, July 25, in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district when a portion of a government school building collapsed during morning prayers. Seven children were killed, and at least 29 others sustained injuries in the disaster. The collapse occurred at the Piplod Government School in the Manoharthana block, just as students were gathering to begin their day.

Students Trapped As Building Collapses During Morning Assembly

According to the officials, around 35 children were inside the building when the structure gave way. As cries for help echoed through the school compound, teachers and local villagers rushed to the scene and began pulling the trapped students from the debris. Emergency responders soon arrived and transported the injured students to the nearby Manohar Thana Community Health Centre for immediate treatment.

Senior district officials, including Jhalawar Collector and Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Budania, quickly reached the spot to oversee the rescue and relief operations.

PM Modi, Defence Minister Express Grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to share his condolences with the affected families.

“The mishap at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is tragic and deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the affected students and their families in this difficult hour. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected,” PM Modi posted on X.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also reacted to the heartbreaking incident, stating:

“Saddened by the tragic accident at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. The loss of young innocent lives is beyond words. My deepest condolences to the grieving families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured.”

Government Assures Medical Aid And Investigation

Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and confirmed that a high-level investigation would be launched to uncover the cause of the collapse.

“A very unfortunate incident occurred in Piplodi village, where the roof of a school collapsed. I have instructed the district collector and education officers to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured. Officials are already on the ground,” he said.

He added that immediate steps are being taken to support the affected families and ensure those injured receive comprehensive medical care. Authorities are also assessing the structural condition of other schools in the region to prevent such incidents in the future.
