Pune Rape Case: Man Who Posed As Delivery Executive And Assaulted Techie Detained After 2 Days

The incident took place at a housing society in Kondhwa area at around 7.30 PM on Wednesday. The man entered the survivor's house posing as a delivery executive.

Pune police on Friday detained a suspect in connection with the alleged rape of 22-year-old techie in Kondhwa area. According to sources, he is believed to be an old friend of the victim.

The development comes two days after an IT professional was sexually assaulted at her residence in Pune by a man who posed as a courier delivery person.

The incident took place at a housing society in Kondhwa area at around 7.30 PM on Wednesday. The survivor told the police that before entering her house, the accused told her he was a courier delivery agent and showed her what looked like a bank-related document. He then asked for a pen to sign a document, and as she turned her back on him, he entered inside the apartment and shut the door before forcing himself on her, news agency PTI reported.

The woman also told the police that she fell unconscious at this point, and when she woke up an hour later, the accused had disappeared by then.

The accused also clicked a selfie in the woman's phone, wherein her back and a part of his face were visible. He left a warning for her that he would release her pictures on social media if she reported the incident, PTI reported.
