Power Cut Scheduled In Chennai & Coimbatore On July 2: Check Areas & Timings
Tamil Nadu Power Shutdown: TANGEDCO announced planned power outages on July 2 in Chennai and Coimbatore for maintenance.

Chennai, Coimbatore Power Cut: The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced scheduled power outages in several areas of Chennai and Coimbatore on Tuesday, July 2, due to planned maintenance activities. Power supply in the affected areas will be temporarily suspended, with restoration expected by the afternoon, subject to the timely completion of works.
Chennai Power Cut (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM)
In Chennai, the power shutdown will affect Pallavaram East, including the following areas:
- Bhavani Nagar
- Kannnbiran Street
- Union Carbide Colony
- Kovalan Street
- Ponniamman Koil Street
- Thiruvenkadammudaiyan
- Natesan Salai
- Crush Street
- Other parts of Pallavaram East
TANGEDCO stated that the maintenance works are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and power supply will be restored earlier if the work concludes ahead of time.
Ahead of power cuts, residents have been advised to fully charge phone, laptop, power banks, and any essential gadgets. They are advised to use phone to check updates or listen to battery-powered radios. It is also advised that residents should wait a few minutes before plugging everything back in when power returns to avoid surges.
Coimbatore Power Cut (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
In Coimbatore, the power outage will impact the Ellapalayam area and its surroundings, including:
- Ellapalayam
- Telungupalayam
- Pillaiyappanpalayam
- Krishnagoundapudur
- Annamalai Nagar
- Velayuthanpalayam
- Semmani Settipalayam
- Sandhiya Nagar
TANGEDCO will be undertaking maintenance of all 110kV and 22kV breakers and related accessories, along with other planned maintenance activities. Power interruption is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain in some parts of Chennai on July 2, 2025. The weather is expected to be warm, with maximum temperatures ranging between 37°C and 38°C, and minimum temperatures between 28°C and 29°C.
