Noida has seen a sudden jump in COVID-19 cases, with 19 active cases. Health teams have started more testing and monitoring in the area.

Noida has reported a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, with 19 active infections confirmed, raising fresh concerns among health authorities. According to district health officials, the recent spike has prompted increased monitoring and testing efforts in the area.

Noida sees spike in COVID-19 cases

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tikam Singh confirmed that the cases include 8 men and 11 women, reported PTI. “The age range is between 24 and 71 years. All are in home isolation.” Dr. Singh added.

District health officials said that one of the patients, a 43-year-old from Sector 119, had recently returned from Chennai. The rest have no travel history and live in Noida or Greater Noida. All the cases were found through private hospitals or labs. Only one person was briefly hospitalised and is now in home isolation. Officials also said that the patients’ close contacts have no symptoms yet, but they will be tested if symptoms appear.

In Delhi, COVID-19 cases have surged, with 99 new infections reported in the last week. This has increased the city’s active case count to 104, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s COVID-19 dashboard.

COVID-19 cases increasing across India

COVID-19 cases in India are slowly rising, with most new infections coming from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. As of Tuesday night, there were 1,010 active cases across the country, according to the Health Ministry.

A new virus subvariant called NB.1.8.1 was recently found in a sample from Tamil Nadu and sent to India's genome sequencing group, INSACOG, for further study. Even though the number of cases is still low, health experts have warned to stay careful, as similar increases are being seen in other countries too.
