Meerut: 2 Women Booked For Burning 5 Stray Puppies Alive, Probe Underway

Station House Officer Jitendra Kumar stated that the FIR was registered based on a statement from Anshumali Vashishth, the general secretary of the Animal Care Society.

Two woman has been booked for allegedly burning five stray puppies alive by pouring petrol over them in the Meerut's Kankerkheda area, Uttar Pradesh, Police said on Friday. Locals confirmed that the women, who live in the same neighbourhood, were reportedly annoyed by the noise from the puppies.

Station House Officer Jitendra Kumar told news agency PTI that the FIR was registered based on a statement from Anshumali Vashishth, the general secretary of the Animal Care Society.

The accused identified as, Shobha and Aarti, have been booked under Section 325 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (mischief by killing or maiming animal) in the case lodged at Kankerkheda police station. "Further legal action will follow upon investigation," SHO Jitendra Kumar said.

The complaint indicates the incident occurred on November 5 in Sant Nagar Colony on Rohta Road. Vashishth alleged that a stray dog had recently given birth to five puppies, which were targeted by the accused women. They allegedly poured petrol on the puppies and set them on fire.

The members of the Meerut Vyapar Mandal met Circle Officer (CO) Daurala Shuchita Singh on Friday to report the incident and demand strict action against those involved.

Gurugram Couple Announces Rs 30,000 Reward For Pet Dog Gone Missing In Agra

In a separate incident, a Gurugram-based couple has announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for anyone who finds their pet dog that went missing during their stay at a hotel in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to Dipayan Ghosh and his wife, Kastori, a female greyhound, was last seen at the Taj Mahal metro station on Tuesday evening.

Ghosh stated that they arrived in Agra along with their two pet dogs on November 1 and rented a pet-friendly, star-category hotel. "On November 3, my wife and I went to Fatehpur Sikri and left our dogs at the hotel's pet-sitting service. Around 9:30 am, we were informed by the hotel staff that the female dog had fled and run towards the city. It was captured on the hotel's CCTV," he told news agency PTI.

Following this, the couple then began searching for the dog in the city, showing its photo to locals of the city.
