Lajpat Nagar Double Murder Case Accused Reveals This Reason Behind Killing Mother-Son Due

Delhi woman and her 14-year-old son found murdered in Lajpat Nagar home; domestic help arrested from UP after brutal double killing over alleged work dispute and money demand.

A horrifying double murder in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar has sent shockwaves through the city. A 42-year-old woman and her teenage son were found brutally killed inside their home on Wednesday night. The prime suspect — their domestic help — was arrested the next morning from Mughal Sarai in Uttar Pradesh after a swift police operation.

The victims, Ruchika Sewani and her 14-year-old son Krish, were discovered in pools of blood late in the evening, their throats slit in what investigators are calling a gruesome act of rage. The accused, 24-year-old Mukesh, allegedly attacked them after an argument turned violent.

According to police, Mukesh confessed to killing Ruchika following a confrontation over his recent absence from work. He claimed he had been unwell and had skipped duty for a few days. When he returned, Ruchika reportedly reprimanded him and demanded that he repay ₹40,000 he had borrowed from her husband. Enraged, Mukesh attacked her.

The violence didn’t stop there. As he was carrying out the assault, Krish, a Class 10 student, came out of the bathroom and witnessed the horrifying scene. In a panic, the boy screamed — prompting Mukesh to turn on him as well, slitting his throat to silence him, police said.

The chilling discovery was made by Ruchika’s husband, Kuldeep Sewani, around 9:30 pm. Returning home from work, he found the main door locked and no response from either his wife or son. His concern turned to fear when he noticed bloodstains near the gate and staircase. Without wasting time, he called the Police Control Room (PCR) and reported them missing.

When officers arrived and forced open the door, they were met with a gruesome sight. Ruchika lay motionless on the floor beside the bed, her shirt soaked in blood. In the bathroom, young Krish was found lifeless, blood pooling around him.

Ruchika and her husband jointly ran a garment shop in the bustling Lajpat Nagar market. Mukesh, originally from Bihar, had been living in nearby Amar Colony, just minutes away from the Sewani residence.

The Delhi Police have launched a thorough investigation, sending the bodies for post-mortem and deploying forensic teams to comb through the crime scene. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed to retrace the movements of the accused and establish the timeline of the crime.
