Kurukshetra: Man Kills Wife And Parents Before Ending Own Life In Suspected Murder-Suicide, Son Lone Survivor

Kurukshetra News: A man named Dushyant Singh allegedly killed his wife, parents, and attempted to kill his son before dying by suicide purportedly due to financial issues.

In Haryana's Kurukshetra, a case of suspected murder-suicide left four members of a family dead, with a teenage boy battling for his life. Superintendent of Police Varun Singla stated that 40-year-old Dushyant Singh allegedly killed his wife, Amandeep Kaur; his father, Naib Singh; and his mother, Amrit Kaur, before attempting to kill his 13-year-old son, Keshav Singh, and consuming poison himself.

A purported suicide note written by Dushyant Singh has been recovered, and preliminary investigations suggest he was grappling with financial disputes, news agency PTI reported.

According to officials cited by PTI, Dushyant allegedly poisoned his wife, slit his father’s throat, and smothered his mother. He also attempted to strangle his son, who was found unconscious and is now hospitalised.

A relative who visited the family’s house on Sunday morning discovered the horrifying scene after breaking open the door. The ground floor contained the bloodied bodies of Naib Singh and Amrit Kaur, while Dushyant Singh, his wife, and his son were found critically injured on the first floor.

Dushyant and his wife succumbed to their injuries in hospital. The police are investigating the circumstances of the case.

Man, 2 Sins Die By Suicide In Lakhimpur Kheri Over Property Dispute

Recently, a similar case emerged in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri, a 63-year-old man and his two sons allegedly died by suicide within 24 hours due to a property dispute.

Superintendent of Police Ganesh Prasad Saha confirmed that Ram Naresh took his life on Thursday, reportedly due to harassment over property division, PTI reported.

Following his death, his sons, Sudhir (30) and Mukesh (35), also ended their lives. Sudhir lodged a complaint on Friday morning, accusing relatives Ramdevi, Shivam, Shashibala, and Arti Nigam of driving their father to suicide. Four people have been arrested in the case.

SP Saha termed the incident “extremely tragic,” explaining that the dispute arose after the death of Ram Naresh's wife. Despite attempts at reconciliation among family members who previously lived amicably, tensions escalated over claims to the family house. One son was found dead near railway tracks, while the other hanged himself at home.

Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Nepal Singh visited the village as further investigations continue.
