Kerala Vlogger Couple Found Dead At Home Parassala, Cops Suspect Death By Suicide
On Friday night, the couple uploaded their last video to YouTube, with the soundtrack, "Vida Parayukayaanen Janmam," which reportedly describes the final journey towards death.
A YouTuber couple was found dead at their Cheruvarakonam residence in Kerala's Parassala town, with the police suspecting it was a case of suicide. The body of the deceased Selvaraj (45) and his wife Priya (40) were discovered by their son on Sunday, with police suspecting the deaths may have occurred two days ago.
According to media reports, Selvaraj was found hanging, while Priya's body was found lying on the bed. The couple were vloggers and ran a YouTube channel called. 'Sellu Family'. The channel reportedly has 18,000 subscribers and over 1,400 videos and mostly features Priya's cooking content. On Friday night, the couple uploaded their last video to YouTube, as per a report by Manorama News.
The 55-second video was a photo montage with the soundtrack, "Vida Parayukayaanen Janmam," which reportedly describes the final journey towards death. This has sparked concerns that Priya may have hinted at their intentions, as per a report by Hindustan Times.
As per the report, Selvaraj and Priya also spoke to their son, who lives in Ernakulam, over the phone on Friday. It was when the son returned home he found his parents dead.
Selvaraj was a mason and Priya was previously involved in Kudumbashree activities. They had moved to Parassala five years ago. After their daughter's wedding last year, the couple were reportedly facing financial difficulties.
As per their neighbours, the couple was reserved, with minimal interactions with villagers. "I hardly ever saw visitors, except Priya’s mother and their children, who were also quite reserved. Priya's daughter got married last year. We were invited to the wedding, but even then, we hardly interacted," a neighbour told Manorama Online.
They also expressed concerns about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths. Meanwhile, the police said they are probing all angles, considering the couple's financial struggles and the cryptic message in their final video.
