Third-Year MBBS Student Found Hanging In Kochi Hostel, Suicide Suspected

A third-year MBBS student, Ambili, was found hanging in her hostel room at Government Medical College, Kalamassery. Her roommates discovered her at 11 PM on Saturday.

An MBBS student has been found hanging in her hostel room at Government Medical College in Kalamassery, Kochi, police said on Sunday, PTI reported.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Ambili. She was from Kasaragod, and was a third-year medical student.

Police said that at around 11 PM on Saturday, her roommates found her hanging from the ceiling fan. They added, "Her parents visited her at the college on Saturday and the reason behind her alleged extreme step is yet unknown."

Police sources also stated that the student had some mental health problems and a learning impediment, although these claims have not been confirmed, PTI reported.

According to preliminary investigation, it appears to have been a suicide, and police have registered a case of an unnatural death. The police said that once her family members come and provide statements, the body will be sent for an autopsy.

JEE Aspirant Kills Self Days Before Exam In Rajasthan's Kota

An 18-year-old engineering aspirant, who was to appear for the JEE-Main on April 2, allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Kota.

Kanpur native Ujjawal Mishra had been preparing for JEE at a coaching institute and lived in a hostel in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area.

Mishra was supposed to leave for Lucknow where he was allotted a centre to sit for the engineering entrance exam, Deputy Superintendent of Police (GRP-Kota) Shankar Lal.

On March 30, the boy left his hostel room around 6.30 PM and reached Kota Railway Station, the DSP said.

According to the train pilot, when the boy saw the train approaching, he laid down on the tracks and got run over around 7 PM.

The pilot, who immediately informed the Government Railway Police about the incident, said he was unable to stop the train on time due to high speed.

No suicide note was recovered from the boy’s possession.
