4-Year-Old Pune Girl Saved By Firefighter After Hanging From Building Window In Katraj
A Pune firefighter saved a 4-year-old girl from falling off a third-floor window in Katraj. His timely action prevented tragedy and earned him local praise.

A near-tragedy unfolded in Pune's Katraj on Tuesday morning when a four-year-old girl was found hanging from a third-floor window. The terrifying moment could have ended in disaster, if not for the swift and brave action of a nearby firefighter. The incident took place around 9:06 AM at the Sonawane Building in Gujar Nimbalkarwadi, Khopde Nagar, which left all the residents in shock and relief.
Umesh Sutar, a local resident noticed the child in a risky position and immediately called for help. His cries for help drew another neighbour to his gallery, where he spotted the child. Identified as Bhavika Chandane, the girl was seen clinging to the window ledge of a bedroom of third-floor, just moments from a deadly fall.

Firefighter's Quick Thinking Saves A Life
Yogesh Arjun Chavan, an officer with the Pure Fire Brigade, happened to be nearby when he heard the commotion. He ran to the building, without any hesitation, and rushed to the third floor of the building. There, he found the flat locked from the outside, with the child alone inside. Bhavika's mother had briefly stepped out to drop her elder daughter at school and was returning at that very moment.
Chavan quickly coordinated with the mother to unlock the door. Once inside, he moved to the window and carefully pulled Bhavika to safety. His timely intervention ensured the child was unharmed. The firefighter's act avoided what could have been a tragic accident.
Community Hails Local Hero
The residents who saw Yogesh Arjun Chavan's act, hailed him. They praised Chavan's presence of mind and courage, calling him a real-life hero. His abilit to act under pressure save a young girl. It reminded everyone how one person's swift action can make all the difference.
