Massive Fire Breaks Out At J&K's Sonmarg Market, CM Omar Abdullah Assures Support
A massive fire at a market in Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, damaged 40-50 shops. Six to seven fire tenders extinguished the blaze. CM Omar Abdullah expressed sadness and pledged support to victims.

As many as 40-50 shops were affected after a massive fire broke out at a market in Jammu and Kashmir's Sonmarg on February 8, an officer said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
According to the information, six to seven fire tenders were deployed to put down the blaze, and the fire has been brought under control.

Incharge of fire and emergency services, Ghulam Hassan, said that fire extinguishers were not installed in the shops, inspite being told to the shopkeepers to do so. He said, "The fire is under control...No fire extinguishers were installed in the shops, restaurants...We kept on asking them to install fire extinguishers. Six to seven fire tenders are on the spot...40-45 shops have been involved in the fire..."

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said he was in constant touch with the local administration to ensure all possible assistance.
