Terrorists Clash With Security Forces In J&K’s Kathua, One Injured
In the Hiranagar area of Kathua, a firing incident was reported while a search operation was going on by security forces.

A shooting incident took place in the Hiranagar area of Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday while security forces were conducting a search operation. Authorities are monitoring the situation, ANI cited J&K Police report.
According to a report by India Today, during fierce gunbattle that erupted between terrorists and security forces, a girl was injured. She was rushed to hospital where her condition is stable.
The terrorists managed to escape after the initial gunbattle from the point of first contact. However, the search operations continued, and it is to intensify tomorrow, officials said.
According to a PTI report, officials stated that the operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists inside a 'dhok'—a local term for an enclosure—within a nursery in Sanyal village, around five kilometers from the Pakistan border.
A Special Operations Group (SOG) police team launched a search operation upon receiving the intelligence. As they advanced into the area, they came under heavy gunfire from the terrorists, triggering a fierce exchange of fire, officials said.
Reinforcements were quickly deployed to support the operation, as security forces launched a manhunt for the terrorists, who are believed to have infiltrated on Saturday, possibly through a ravine route or a newly dug tunnel.
Intelligence inputs also suggested that two separate groups of 5-6 terrorists each may have entered the area on Saturday. Some local women collecting firewood reported spotting around five armed men taking shelter in the vast nursery area.
During the incident, a seven-year-old girl sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital, though the exact circumstances of her injury remain unclear. Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat is personally overseeing the operation near the encounter site, officials added.
