There are reports of three terrorists hiding in the area.

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar on Thursday. There are reports of three terrorists hiding in the area. The security forces have intensified a crackdown on terrorists after 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

The firefight took place between the security forces and the suspected terrorists during a search operation following a tip-off about their presence in the Shingpora area of Chhatru, officials said.

"Contact has been established with terrorists during a joint operation with police at Chhatru in Kishtwar this morning," the White Knight Corps said in a post on X. Additional troops have been deployed, and the operation is ongoing to neutralise the terrorists, it added.

Last week, three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora. The terrorists were killed in a fierce gunbattle that started at Nader and Tral area of Awantipora, which is a sub-district of Pulwama.
