Army Foils Infiltration Bid Of Terrorists Trying To Enter J&K's Poonch; Two Shot At

Security forces confirmed that at least two terrorists were hit by the bullets amid the firing but it was not immediately known whether they were killed or injured.

An infiltration attempt by a group of heavily armed terrorists along the LoC in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir was countered by Army troops on Thursday. Officials confirmed that two terrorists were hit by the bullets in an attempt to sneak across LoC in the Khari Karmara area.

As per the report by TOI, it was not confirmed that both the terrorists were either killed or injured. Officials stated that additional reinforcements have been dispatched to the location, where dense foliage is making the search operation challenging.  

Earlier in the day, security forces initiated a cordon and search operation in Doda after intelligence inputs about a suspected terrorist movement, according to police officials. A joint effort involving the police and CRPF was launched at 8:30 am in Dorhu, Basti, and the surrounding forested areas of Bhaderwah.  

Officials confirmed that the operation was still ongoing as per the latest update. The search was initiated after local residents reported suspicious activity to the police.

Army Camp Fired Upon By Terrorists In Jammu's Kathua

Similarly, ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, terrorists reportedly fired upon an Army camp late on Friday night (January 24) in Bhatodi village of ​​Billawar in ​​Kathua district. The army also retaliated in kind. There is no news of any casualty so far. The area has been cordoned off and an intense search operation has been launched.

The attack comes amid a security beef-up in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Republic Day Celebrations on Sunday. Multi-layered security measures, including drones and spotters, were been put in place to ensure the smooth running of Republic Day events in Kashmir, according to IGP VK Birdi.
