During the searches, police found some suspicious objects. Sensing danger, the security forces swiftly retreated for safety. But that couldn't prevent the huge blast in which the house was razed. "It seems that some suspicious explosive material was present in the house," the police said in a statement.

The house of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guri, a resident of Guri, Bijbehara, was also demolished. He is believed to have been involved in the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. Adil had legally travelled to Pakistan in 2018, where he reportedly received terror training before returning to Jammu and Kashmir last year.
It is suspected that the IED-type devices were deliberately placed in the homes to harm the search teams.
In a speech from Madhubani, Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday vowed strict action against terrorists and said they would be "tracked down and punishedtill the end of the earth".
