Delhi Hit-and-Run: Audi Driver, Who Went Absconding After Killing Man On Ring Road, Arrested

Delhi Police arrested Paras Pathania, the driver of an Audi involved in a hit-and-run accident on January 11 that killed a 28-year-old man.

In a major breakthrough by Delhi Police, their special team have successfully solved a case and arrested the missing driver of the vehicle involved in January 11 hit-and-run accident which happened near Bhikaji Cama Place.

A 28-year-old man was killed in the accident involving an Audi and an Ertiga on Saturday. However, within 12 hours of the incident, the police arrested the missing driver of the Audi.

A report from India TV stated that the accused has been identified as Paras Pathania (24). According to a senior cop, the accused was returning from the club of a five-star hotel. Pathania recently returned from Canada.

As per the details, the accident occurred around 6:30 am on Ring Road, in front of the World Trade Centre in Bhikaji Cama Place. 

The victim has been identified as Sukhjeet Nanda, a resident of Haryana's Hisar, as reported by NDTV. Nanda was driving a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga from Dhaula Kuan toward South Extension when his car was struck by a speeding silver Audi sedan. 

As per the police reports and eyewitness accounts, the Audi jumped the road divider and collided with the Ertiga head-on. The Audi driver fled the scene, after the crash and left behind wreckage and a critically injured victim. Nanda was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. 

The police, after analysing footage from over 50 CCTV cameras successfully traced the Audi's movements from the crash site to various parts of the city.  Their investigation found that the Audi was registered to a resident of Pushkar Enclave in Paschim Vihar named Paras Pathania. By the afternoon of January 11, police arrested Paras Pathania at his residence.

Earlier, in December 2024, a young man was in critical condition after a speeding car hit him while he was crossing the road in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh.

In November 2024 also, a bike rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Wazirpur flyover in Delhi. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene after hitting the biker. However, it was later identified by the police officials.
