3-Year-Old Molested At Playschool Washroom In Gurugram, Parents Hold Protest
The identity of the accused is unclear and police are probing the case from all angles, a police officer said.
A three-year-old girl was allegedly molested at a private playschool in Gurugram, PTI reported quoting police officials on Wednesday. The incident came to light after a delivery man came to the girl's house on October 28 and "caressed" her hair. This is when she recounted to her mother about a "bad touch" incident at the washroom of the playschool.
The girl couldn't tell the name of the accused or recognise him, police said.
FIR Registered, SIT Probing The Case
An FIR was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Sadar police station and police initiated a probe. Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora formed an SIT to investigate the matter.
The identity of the accused is unclear and police are probing the case from all angles, a police officer said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Mayank Gupta said male staff at the institution are being questioned and CCTV footage is being examined. "We have also sent the girl to the Child Welfare Committee for counselling. Since she reported the incident, we suspect that it happened at the school. We are examining all aspects and an SIT has been set up with ACP Sadar as the head along with crime units to find the culprit," he informed.
Family members of the girl held demonstrations outside the playschool, demanding the arrest of the accused. Parents of around 50 other students joined the protest.
