Greater Noida Society Residents Thrashed With Sticks By Guards, Staff Over Power Cut Complaint: Video

The situation escalated when staff members allegedly refused to respond or explain the delay in power cut to residents, which started an altercation. Four individuals have been arrested.

A shocking incident unfolded in the high-rise society in Greater Noida's Ecovillage-1 after the residents were thrashed by security guards and maintenance staff over a power outage complaint.

The incident took place on Thursday night when the residents of the high-rise society approached the maintenance staff over a prolonged power cut. However, a group of security guards and staff members physically assaulted the residents when they tried to seek answers, NDTV reported.

The incident was recorded on camera and the videos have gone viral on social media. In the visuals, the guards and other staff members can be seen hitting some residents with sticks. Another video captures three to four men kicking and punching individuals, even as a child looks on in distress.

As per the report, police said that the altercation began when frustrated residents, dealing with two to three hours of no electricity, decided to confront the maintenance team. The situation escalated when staff members allegedly refused to respond or explain the delay, leading to a heated argument that soon took a violent turn and spiraled into a physical assault.

One of the residents who was attacked recalled the ordeal, saying that there was no electricity for two to three hours and he decided to go down to them when they stopped answering calls.

"When we went there, some other residents were already trying to get answers. As we were talking, some members of the maintenance staff began punching us. One man held my collar as other people hit me with sticks. I was also slapped...my entire body is swollen. My children were crying in the corner," he said.

Following the attack, police arrested four individuals from the maintenance department. They have been identified as Ravindra, Sohit, Sachin Kuntal, and Vipin Kasana.

DCP Central Noida, Shakti Mohan Awasthi, confirmed the arrests and said: "Upon receiving the information, we reached the spot and registered a case, and arrested the accused on the charges of assaulting the society residents."
