Diwali 2024: Delhi Metro Schedule Revised For All Lines On October 31; Check Timings

The DMRC has adjusted the train schedule for all lines for Thursday, October 31, on the occasion of Diwali festival.

The Delhi Metro has revised its schedule for October 31 in view of the Diwali festival, which will be celebrated on Thursday. The last train service on all stations on Thursday will commence at 10 PM, instead of the usual 11 PM.

"On account of the Diwali festival, the last Metro train service on 31st October, 2024 (Thursday) will start at 10:00 PM from terminal stations of all Lines including Airport Express Line," DMRC announced on Wednesday via post on X (formerly Twitter).

The DMRC further stated that all metro services will run as per the routine for the rest of the day on Diwali on all lines.

"Metro train services will run as usual for rest of the day on Diwali from routine commencement timings on all the Lines," it added.

Earlier this week, the DMRC, in a bid to accomodate the Diwali rush, introduced 60 additional trips on Tuesday (October 29) and Wednesday (October 30). The move was aimed at improving the commuter convenience and curb congestion due to the ongoing festive season.

It has urged people to use public transport in order to avoid traffic and pollution. According to officials, the Metro makes around 4,000 trips daily. "Whether you’re heading to festive markets, visiting friends and family, or simply exploring the city, avoid traffic and pollution by choosing the metro. Let’s make this festive season hassle-free and sustainable with every ride," it had said.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Metro announced that it would be operating eight special trains in both directions on the Dakshineswar-New Garia route (Blue Line) between 9.40 PM and 11 PM on the night of October 31 to facilitate the visit of devotees to the famed Dakshineswar and Kalighat temples on Kali Puja night.

According to a statement issued by the Kolkata Metro, the eight trains — four each in both routes — will operate at an interval of 20 minutes. Four trains will run from Kavi Subhas (New Garia) at 10 PM, 10.20 PM,10:40 PM, and 11 PM, and from the Dakshineswar side, the trains will operate at 9.48 PM, 10.08 PM, 10.28 PM, and 10:48 PM.
