Delhi Woman Kills Husband After Having Affair With Brother-In-Law

Delhi woman, in a secret affair with her brother-in-law, drugs and kills her husband in a chilling murder plot disguised as an electrocution accident.

The mysterious death of 36-year-old Karan Dev — initially thought to be an accidental electrocution — has taken a dark turn, unfolding into a chilling murder investigation that now points to his own wife and cousin.

On July 13, karan was rushed to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital by his wife, Sushmita, who told doctors he had suffered an accidental electric shock. Despite emergency efforts, Karan was declared dead on arrival. Believing her version of events, his family declined a post-mortem, accepting it as a freak accident.

However, something didn’t sit right with the Delhi Police. Given Karan’s relatively young age and the circumstances surrounding his sudden death, authorities overruled the family's request and ordered an autopsy — a decision that would soon uncover a grim truth.

Interestingly, both Sushmita and Karan’s cousin, Rahul, strongly opposed the post-mortem — a reaction that would later raise red flags.

Brother Alleges Wife And Cousin Conspired To Kill Karan

Three days after Karan’s death, his younger brother, Kunal, approached the police with disturbing information. He accused both Sushmita and Rahul — Karan’s own cousin — of plotting and carrying out the murder. As proof, he handed over a damning Instagram chat between the two, exposing their affair and a chilling premeditated plan to eliminate Karan.

According to the recovered messages, the illicit couple had been romantically involved and viewed Karan as an obstacle. Together, they conspired to drug him with 15 sleeping pills during dinner. Once he lost consciousness, the pair researched how long it would take for the sedatives to take effect — a disturbing detail that highlighted the calculated nature of the crime.

Even as Karan lay unconscious but still breathing, Sushmita messaged Rahul saying she wanted to take a nap. Moments later, they administered an electric shock to his body, attempting to stage the scene as an accidental electrocution.

The Chilling Confession Of Sushmita

As the investigation progressed, police took Sushmita into custody. Under interrogation, she confessed to the crime, revealing that her motive stemmed from ongoing domestic abuse and financial disputes with her husband. She claimed Karan had slapped her a day before Karwa Chauth and often demanded money, leading to emotional and physical distress.

"Based on the initial investigation, a case has been registered under appropriate sections. The process of arrest is going on. We are also waiting for a detailed post-mortem report," said Ankit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dwarka.
