Delhi Weather Is Changing, But Relief For How Long? Check Forecast

Delhi saw heavy rain on Sunday. Safdarjung recorded 33.5 mm, Lodhi Road 32 mm, and Pusa 27.5 mm. More rain is expected today.

Delhi Weather Today: The maximum temperature in the national capital on Sunday was 41.8 degrees Celsius, which was 1.9 degrees above normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Several parts of the national capital received rainfall early on Sunday, providing relief to people from the scorching heat that had been prevailing for the past few days.

The IMD said that 42 mm of rain was recorded in the capital on Sunday morning. 33.5 mm of rain was recorded at the Safdarjung centre, 32 mm at Lodhi Road, and 27.5 mm at the Pusa Centre. Officials said that the power supply was disrupted in some areas due to the rain. There was rain with lightning between 2:30 AM and 4:30 AM.

According to the IMD, the wind speed at Palam airport reached 56 kilometres per hour at 4:30 AM, while visibility decreased from 4,000 metres at 2 AM to 1,500 metres at 3 AM. The minimum temperature in the city on Sunday was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius, which is seven degrees below average. Humidity was recorded at 43 per cent at 5:30 PM.

Maximum Temperature Recorded In Safdarjung

Among the weather centres, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius in Safdarjung. This was 3.2 degrees below normal and the minimum temperature was 20 degrees, which was 7.5 degrees below average. The maximum temperature in Palam was 35 degrees and the minimum temperature was 24 degrees, which was 4.2 and 3.8 degrees below normal, respectively.

How Will The Weather Be Today?

The IMD says that there is a possibility of thundershowers, lightning, light to moderate rain, and wind blowing at a speed of 50-60 kilometres per hour by Monday evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday are likely to be around 37 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The next week is expected to remain cooler than the previous one. An IMD bulletin read: "Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) temporarily reaching 60 kmph during thunderstorm towards night. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 36 and 23 degree celsius respectively."

According to the data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality of Delhi was recorded in the 'satisfactory' category at 4 pm on Sunday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 62. According to CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', between 51 and 100 is 'satisfactory', between 101 and 200 is 'moderate', between 201 and 300 is 'poor', between 301 and 400 is 'very poor' and between 401 and 500 is considered 'severe'.
