Scorching Summer Heatwave Back In Delhi And There Is No Escape, IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Delhi Heatwave Alert: A yellow alert for heatwave has been issued in Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas. On Saturday, strong winds are expected and a maximum temperature of over 39°C is likely.

Delhi Weather News Today: The summer heat is now raring to scorch Delhi-NCR. Temperatures during the day have increased, causing distress to people. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast temperatures exceeding 42 degrees Celsius for the next few days. Meteorologists have appealed to people not to venture out during the afternoon and to keep hydrated. 

Yellow Alert In Delhi

According to the IMD, strong winds at speeds of 20-25 kmph will blow in Delhi on Saturday, April 5. There is also a forecast for heatwaves over in different places. Temperatures in Delhi are expected to reach 40 to 42 degrees Celsius over the next five days. During this time, Delhi's weather will remain clear.

Due to this, a heatwave alert has been issued in Delhi till April 8. The IMD also issued a warning of heatwave conditions at isolated places over southern parts of Haryana.

Highest Temperature In Ridge

The IMD said that on Friday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 38.4 degrees Celsius, 4.4 degrees above normal, while the minimum was 18.8 degrees Celsius. Other monitoring stations in the city also recorded high temperatures on Friday, with the maximum temperature in Ridge at 39.4 degrees Celsius, Aya Nagar at 38.1 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road at 38 degrees Celsius and Palam at 37 degrees Celsius. The IMD said that the humidity level fluctuated between 47 percent and 18 percent during the day. 

Delhi Air Quality 'Moderate'  

According to the Early Warning System, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital was recorded in the 'moderate' category on Saturday. At 5.30 AM, the AQI was 174.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor' and 401 to 500 'severe'.
