WATCH: Delhi Rains Bring Respite From Severe Heat; IMD Predicts Thunderstorms With Showers For Next 2 Days
Residents in Delhi experienced relief from a severe heatwave Friday evening as rain after a dust storm swept through the city. The storm briefly disrupted normal life, blanketing the region in dust before light showers arrived.

The residents of national capital got respite from severe heatwave on Friday evening after rain lashed several parts of Delhi. Heavy dust storm besides light showers covered the region in dust for a while and disrupted normal life.
Videos posted by news agency ANI showed light rain in several parts of the national capital.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy skies with light rain from May 17 to May 12 in capital. Earlier, the weather body had predicted about light showes in Delhi-NCR.
“Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning (30-40 Km/h gusty winds) is very likely to occur at isolated places of Delhi-NCR during next 2 hours," IMD said on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the weather body, the weather is expected to see maximum temperatures between 40 degrees Celsius and 41 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is likely to be settled around 26 degrees Celsius over the weekend.

According to IMD, the temperature recorded in Delhi was 42 degrees Celsius, causing a severe heat wave. It is anticipated that the lowest temperature will be around 29 degrees Celsius.There national capital is witnessing moderate winds of 7.4 km/h and a 25% humidity level.
Rajasthan Experiences Severe Heat
Several parts of Rajasthan are experiencing severe heat with the temperature in Sri Ganganagar hitting a scalding 45.8 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, reports news agency PTI quoting IMD.Strong surface dusty winds are likely to blow in the border areas of Jodhpur, and Bikaner divisions for the next three to four days. Similarly, the maximum temperature of 45-46 degrees is likely to be recorded in Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar districts on May 16-20 with a heatwave likely at some places.
A maximum temperature between 42-44 degrees Celsius is expected to be recorded in most of the remaining parts.Thunderstorms and light rains are likely in the northern parts of the state on May 19-20.
