Dehradun Man Assaulted, Paraded Semi-Naked In Dehradun For 'Celebrating' Pahalgam Attack

Members of a right wing group then caught hold of Sahil Khan and physically assaulted him and paraded him semi-naked on the streets in Dehradun before handing him over to the police.

A man was paraded and physically assaulted by a group of men in Dehradun for allegedly celebrating the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The man, identified as Sahil Khan, allegedly shared a celebratory post on social media celebrating the terror attack on civilians in Pahalgam. 

Members of a right wing group then caught hold of Khan and physically assaulted him and paraded him semi-naked on the streets in Dehradun before handing him over to the police.

The Dehradun Police said they have arrested Sahil Khan for an objectionable post on social media regarding the demolition of temples and Pahalgam incident. 

"In response to the demolition of an illegal shrine located at Doon Hospital by the administration, a youth made an objectionable post on social media regarding the demolition of temples and an incident that recently occurred in Pahalgam. The Nehru Colony police registered a case against the individual and arrested him," the police said in a statement.

"Some individuals are now circulating a video related to the incident on social media, which may disturb communal harmony. The police are maintaining strict vigilance across all social media platforms. Additionally, those who are found circulating such videos are being identified," they added.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police has arrested at least 16 people across the state for making "seditious comments" related to Pahalgam attack.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said, "Total 16 arrests have been made till now against rogue elements."

Sarma had said on Saturday that if required, provisions of the National Security Act would be imposed on those arrested.There are no similarities between Bharat and Pakistan. 

At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed after terrorists struck Baisaran, a tourist location in Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday.
