UP: 26-Year-Old Dancer Held Hostage, Raped For 3 Days In Agra; Accused Arrested
The woman informed the police that Gupta kept her hostage for three days and raped her. She added that he suggested her to become a prostitute to make extra money.
A 26-year-old dancer was allegedly held captive for three days and raped by a man in his flat in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday. The suspect was identified as Vinay Gupta, who is also an event manager by profession.
Police told news agency PTI that Gupta contacted the victim, originally from Ghaziabad and employed as a dancer, for an event in Agra. On October 8, Gupta brought her to his residence, where his wife allegedly gave her tea laced with sedatives, causing her to lose consciousness.
"When she woke up she found herself tied in a room," the woman informed the police. She told police that Gupta kept her hostage for three days and raped her. She added that he suggested her to become a prostitute to make extra money.

The woman also claimed that Gupta had forced other women into prostitution, police said. "The victim somehow managed to flee from Gupta's house and reached the Tajganj Police Station where she filed a complaint on Friday," Syed Areeb Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Suraksha and Traffic), Agra said, PTI reported.
Further Ahmad added that after her complaint, an FIR was filed, and Vinay Gupta, along with his wife, was arrested on Saturday. The investigation is ongoing.
West Bengal's Jaynagar Rape-Murder Case
Recently, another rape incident came to light from the South 24 Paraganas district of West Bengal where a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murder.
In response, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered the police to register the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, insisting that the culprits face capital punishment within three months.
“I want the police to register the Kultuli case under the POCSO Act and ensure that the culprits get capital punishment within three months... Crime is crime; there is no religion or caste. Strong action should be taken against the criminals”, news agency PTI reported.
