Congress MLA Abhimanyu Poonia Arrested In Middle Of Exam At Rajasthan University
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Govind Singh Dotasra condemned the police action.

Congress MLA from Sangaria, Abhimanyu Poonia, and student union president Nirmal Choudhary were taken into police custody on Saturday while Poonia was appearing for his postgraduate examination at Rajasthan University.
The incident was confirmed through a video shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the legislator himself. In the post, Poonia wrote, “Police have shown cowardice by arresting me and my brother Nirmal Choudhary from the Rajasthan University campus. Has raising the voice of the common man become a crime under BJP’s brutal regime? We will not stop fighting against injustice because of this cowardly act.”
pic.twitter.com/nYGhAeqNgN

Arrest In The Middle Of His Exam
The arrests took place while postgraduate semester exams were underway at the Rajasthan University. Like other students, Abhimanyu Poonia was in the exam hall writing his paper when a police team entered the premises. He was reportedly escorted out of the examination hall, taken to a police jeep, and later transported to the local police station. Student leader Nirmal Choudhary was also detained alongside him.
Reacting sharply to the incident, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Govind Singh Dotasra expressed strong condemnation. Sharing the same video, Dotasra wrote, “Forcibly detaining Rajasthan Youth Congress president and MLA Abhimanyu Poonia and student leader Nirmal Choudhary from an exam centre is undemocratic and utterly disgraceful.”
Congress Warns Of Statewide Protest
Dotasra went on to criticise the BJP government, accusing it of suppressing democratic voices. “It is unfortunate that the BJP government is trying to crush elected representatives and student power with authoritarianism. This action is unacceptable. They must be released immediately or the Congress party will take to the streets in protest,” he warned.
As the incident sparks political backlash, the exact reasons behind the detention have yet to be officially clarified by the police.
